TOYBAND
for
TOTS!
|
The basic concept of Toyband is: Bring toys. Make noise!
More detailed
description is, bring any toy or object that makes a sound. It could be a
musical toy, such as a ukulele or recorder. Or any toy or object that
makes a fun sound, such as squeaky dog toy or even a metal lampshade hit
with a stick! Even smartphone apps are allowed, for those that have
them fancy phones smarter than themselves! I will bring a lot of toys to
share, so they don't NEED to bring their own, it's just more fun that
way. (It is BYOK, bring your own kazoo, for anti-kootie spreading
reasons.) All the toys are put in the middle of the floor and you pick
up whatever strikes your fancy at that moment! (Except they don't share
kazoos or smartphones) Rhythm is the main musical force (since a lot of
toys are not in tune with anything), so yes, this is essentially a drum
circle...but with toys! Anyone that needs further instructions on
playing with toys, tell them to ask the nearest 4 year old.
Toyband for Tots
will happen
at the Garage
Fri. Dec. 2nd
during the gallery hop!
The Toys for Tots donations will be accepted @ the Garage. People
would bring a packaged toy to donate, and also a toy for themselves to
"play"
There will also be an "organized" ToyParade
to concur with gallery hop!

Apercu Gallery
Our December
Gallery Hop exhibition consists of original paintings in oils, acrylic,
watercolor and/or mixed media from the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company
Collection. The artwork chosen for this curated
show emphasizes the different artistic interpretations of landscapes in
style, color, tone, composition and perspective. Works
were selected from over 3000 pieces and represent images of places and
topography both real and imagined that one might enjoy visiting. This work will be on exhibit from Gallery Hop Night ...December 2nd until January 2012.
THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON
We are hopeful
that this installation of original paintings from the R.J. Reynolds
Tobacco Company Collection could help bring more people into the
Downtown Arts District this Holiday Season to support our local
businesses and artists. Furthermore, it is also
our belief that by abnegating all of our Holiday Sales through the
contribution of our gallery space(s) ...we will help facilitate the
fundraising efforts of the Arts Council of Winston Salem and Forsyth County allowing them to augment their support in awarding regional artist project grants to local visual artists.
Happy Holidays from Schwartzlee and IMUMOAO
